"We Shall Never Forget" September 11, 2001 and this American tragedy which has forever affected the lives, families, friends and loved-ones of thousands within the New York Metropolitan Area, the hearts of all U.S. citizens and all of humanity throughout the world.

As we can never forget the magnitude of this tragic terrorist attack in American history, we should also be forever proud of the fortitude and unity of the "American Spirit". . . the firemen, police departments, doctors, nurses, medical teams, civil and emergency rescue workers, who immediately responded to those in need, and for the dedication of all who donated their unending help and support.

In a letter dated September 14, 2001, Daniel P. Amos, Chairman and CEO of AFLAC Incorporated wrote:

AFLAC INCORPORATED

September 14, 2001

Dear Employees and Associates,

The tragic events of September 11 have touched all of us very deeply. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at AFLAC are with the victims, their families and their loved ones. Likewise, we appreciate the continuing efforts of the thousands of rescue personnel who have worked around the clock since Tuesday. Their bravery and resolve are inspirational and they, too, are in our thoughts and prayers.

AFLAC will expedite the claims of any New York firefighters covered under our accident policy, as well as those of other policyholders who may have been injured or killed.

We will make a contribution of $1,000 per person for each firefighter and police officer in New York City and Washington, D.C., killed or missing in the Tuesday tragedy. We will make these contributions to the benevolent funds of the respective fraternal organizations when the identities/numbers are known. We will ask the organizations to direct the contributions to the specific families.

Also, donations from AFLAC employees will be sent to the American Red Cross through the local Columbus chapter. Field force members who choose to contribute may send donations to AFLAC Worldwide Headquarters to be added to the employee's American Red Cross contributions. Checks should be made payable to the American Red Cross and mailed to Wendy Hogan in our Corporate Communications Department.

In addition, AFLAC headquarters will host a blood drive on Wednesday, November 7. Field force members are encouraged to support their local American Red Cross office.

In addition to the measures mentioned above, AFLAC will continue to evaluate other ways to assist those whose lives were touched by this tragedy. As we do, we will provide you with updates. We are also proud of the sacrifices that everyone in the AFLAC family has made to help others. You truly are examples of the very principles upon which this company was founded --- to be there for others during their time of need.

Our nation, like AFLAC, is strong because of the character of its people. Together there is no adversity that we cannot overcome. I appreciate all that you do.

Sincerely,

Daniel P. Amos
